Composers of the Po Valley in 16th Century
This recording presents various compositions by 16th-century authors from the area around the Po Valley. The choice of pieces included here aims at highlighting the phonic qualities of the organ now housed in the Confraternita della S. S. Trinità in Rivanazzano (PV), which acquired it around 1629. The instrument, built very probably at the end of the 16th century, hails from the Lombard school, though the organ builder is unknown. After decades of total abandon, the organ was restored in 2001 by the Inzoli company belonging to the Bonizzi brothers of Ombriano di Crema (CR). Such instruments, rare jewels, if restored with respect for their original structure and unique timbres, are capable of recreating the sonorities most suitable to the performance of the vast early literature for organ.
