VIII Libro de’ madrigali - Love Madrigals
The first edition of Monteverdi’s 8th Madrigals Book was printed in 1638 in Venice by Alessandro Vincenti. It was entitled :”War and Love Madrigals a few works in dramatic form that will be brief episodes among the nondramatic vocal pieces. Eight Book of Claudio Monteverde, Chapelmaster of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. Dedicated to the Holy Roman Majesty of Emperor Ferdinand III”. The only complete original copy conserved in Italy is in the Bibliographical Civic Museum of Bologna. In this CD is recorded the second part of the 8th Book of Madrigals dedicated to “Love Madrigals”. The first part, dedicated to “War Madrigals” is issued in the CD number TC 561305.
