FRESCOBALDI GIROLAMO (1583-1643)
Liber Secundus Sacrarum Modulationum, 1627
Girolamo Frescobaldi achieved international fame as consummate composer following the publications of works listing among the greatest instrumental pieces of all time. A sort of “ill fortune” weighs somehow upon Frescobaldi’s motet production. The surviving “Liber Secundus Sacrarum Modulationum” is instead extant in an incomplete “unicum” copy preserved in the British Library in London.
