AA.VV.

This recording is an anthology of compositions taken from the polyphonic repertoire of the 15th century. While offering on the one hand forms and styles still belonging to the late Ars Nova tradition of the first decades of the century, it presents, on the other, works by Franco-Flemish composers which reveal a new consciòusness increasingly characterized by that different rhythmic, melodic and «harmonic» sensibility which will becomepart ofthe new Italian musical production in the second half of the Quattrocento. Three criteria have thus been jollowed in the choice of music: pieces by northern composers who were among the first to arrive in Italy at the beginning ofthe 15th century; anonymous compositions transcribed into Italiati codices; dance music. The musical sources, all of them copied in Italy, come from two different parts of the peninsula: the Peneto region and the Neapolitan area.
