Franz Listz (1811-1886)

During his entire life Franz Liszt kept a very tight connection with Italy.
The fascination and love for Italy (that earlier even captured Goethe that described Italy as the country of the lemon treesblossom) cannot only be found in the second book of the Années de pèlerinage, but also in a series of highly evocativevocal works where the beauty and radiance of the landscape is going hand in hand with the opera produced by majorItalian composers .
The repertoire presented within this CD includes the two versions of the Tre Sonetti del Petrarca, written at a distanceof almost thirty years, and a series of works giving us the chance to appreciate the refined art of a very different Liszt, very far from the virtuoso of the Sonata in B minor and the Trascendental Studies.
These works are presented by mezzo-soprano Chiarastella Onorati, a singer gifted with an incredible feeling that allowsher to display even the slightest nuances of the lisztian writing, accompained with great elegance and brilliance byan excellent Giulio De Luca.
