Bernardo Pasquini (1637-1710)

On the side of the Marco Enrico Bossi Opera Omnia that received several prizes and prestigeous awards, Tactus recently reached the attention of the media thanks to an important study convention held at the Bologna conservatorium the pastJune and is now going on with great enthusiasm with the discovery of the Italian 16th and 17th century Organ musicrepertoire.
After publishing the 12 CD set box dedicated to the Girolamo Frescobaldi published keyboard works (TC.580600), and the monographic CD dedicated to Gregorio Strozzi performed by Elena Sartori (TC.614401), the label from Bologna isnow going back to Bernardo Pasquini, composer born in Massa Valdinievole (Lucca), whom Tactus already dedicatedtwo CDs of great interest.
In fact, as you may also read on the extremely interesting booklet notes by Francesco Tasini, under the stylistic point of view Pasquini inspired his work to the two maximum exponents of the Roman school beforehim, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Girolamo Frescobaldi, masterfully outlining the didactic principles based on thebasso continuo teaching and the researched “partimento” also part of the opera by Alessandro Scarlatti and GaetanoGreco and later by Leonardo Leo and Francesco Durante.
Mainly chosen from the original manuscript Ms.L.215 c/o the Deutsche Staatsbibliothek in Berlin and considered themost reliable source of the Pasquini opera, the 14 works included in this unmissable CD allow the appreciation of the fineart of this great star of the second half of the 17th century Italian instrumental repertoire through the great performance byLetizia Romiti that here is at the keyboard on two fantastic historical organs that pefectly match the carachteristics of these works.
